Mindful Monday

I have been so busy the last few weeks getting everything ready for the wedding, that I have completely lost all sense of what is going on in my life.. THIS IS NOT MINDFUL.

I am really attempting to  enjoy this moment, the lead up to the wedding, and just go with the flow. I attempting to FOCUS on what I am doing right that moment, rather than focusing on the 100 other DIY tasks I have to do. Right now I am making 90 paper heart for table decorations I have about 16 more to go. Then I will move onto my next task.

For My OLW album, I wanted to do something different from the  format Ali had given us. I want it to represent me. I not a big fan of the size , in fact I have not scrapbooked in a 12 by 12 formant in over a year. So I decided that I would do a  4inch by 6inch mini, as this is me. You can see it here.

Just Breath

This morning did not go to plan, but at every point when something went wrong I said to myself

Just breath.

I said just breath when I could not fit the bridesmaid dresses in the suitcase

I said just breath when i could not find the wedding binder

I said just breath when I did find the wedding binder and everything fell out

I said just breath when the cat sent my suitcase flying

I said just breath when Dan rang and said he was running late

I said just breath when i felt like breaking down and crying

and now when I finally have time to sit

I opened up my daily reflections book to discover today's word, and what was it

I had a little chuckle to myself, I knew I needed to "just focus on my breathing today".

Mindful Monday

Two thoughts cannot coexist at the same time: if the clear light of mindfulness is present, there is no room for mental twilight.  -Nyanaponika There

I am guessing eventually I will run out of observation of being mindful, but right now i am still embracing my word

1) I letting Daniel sleep in. How is this mindful you might ask. For many years i have had the belief if i am awake and on the go, Dan should be awake on the go. This was very bad when Dan did night shift.  So on Saturdays, Dan gets a good sleep in.

2) I trying harder to remain quite. Just LISTEN to what people say, rather interup all the time. I am finding this hard.

50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind

I came across this post some time ago, and planed on answering them as a part of my self-discover journey last year, which fell on the back burner. Well since I am now taking that Journey, and attempting to blog more. I decided to post my answers here to be accountable, to ensure that I actually answer the questions.

1) How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

Right Now, I still like I am 21 years old. At times I forget I am actually a couple of years off thirty. I feel young, with so many years ahead of me.

2) Which is worse, failing or never trying?

My answer to this is going to be such a contradiction, because I believe that never trying is worse than failing. But I one of those people who will not try unless they know it will be 100 percent successfully. This is somewhere I need to BE MORE MINDFUL, and just attempt to do things no matter what is going to happened.

3) If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?

I think it is because of the cycle, of what we think life should be and what life is actually. Society has a way in presents itself, and what we should be, so in the even end of search of happiness we are trying to fit into what society wants us to be and who we want to be. In the end there is not enough time, not enough money so we get stuck in the cycle, of working to pay the bill and saying tomorrow we will do what we love. I guess at the end of the day it becomes about balance, we are never going to have all the time in the world to everything we dream off. That why they are dreams, but we should still dream, because we can still find moments to do the things we love in between those mundane aspects we all need to fulfil to make the cycle work.

4) When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?

Oh yes, unfortunately I will have said more than I have done, basically only because I have a BIG MOUTH, I cannot keep it shut. This is another thing I need to BE MORE MINDFUL off. Another aspect of this is that no matter how hard we try there will be always something left undone, we all have good intentions but we all tend to say we are going to do something, and never get around to it. I think this goes back to those "Dreams", we should have those intentions, we should aim to get thing done but it okay we don't do it all, as long as we do something. As long as you can look back and look back and say hey, look what I did, it may not be as impressive as the next person but I still achieved something.

5) What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?

The amount we waste. I look at what people throw out, I look at how much food we waste in western society, and then I see people starving in African Countries. I see people buying their children new toys every day, I see people buying new things today not because THEY NEED but because they want. I am too, guilty of this. Our society has become a society of Want, want, where we pick up a new toy each day and spit it out the next. We don't buy things because we need them but because we think it will make us something we are not.  If people were more aware of this, the world would be a better place over all.

52 Weeks, 52 Books: The Hunger Games

The_hunger_games_trilogy_by_rjvg92-d341yoq
I was hesitant about  reading this due to all the hype, I read Twilight because everyone said you had to and I HATED IT. I did not want to read as i did not want to have that feeling of hitting my head against a brick wall over and over again like i did with twightlight, after all we all read for pleasure. So after, Humming and Haring for a while, I decided that I would read it.

I read all three books in a 3 day period, the first i read in 6 hours when I should have been sleeping, however i was to enthralled. The first book is the best in the series. I love all the twist and turns in the games, as well as the message about society. The Characters were fantastic, likable and true to who they were.

The second book was Catching Fire, was pretty good, and as always with a third, Mockinjay was my least favorite, and left me feeling a little bit disappointed.
