For those who know me, will always tell you that when i am asked what is a must read book i will always recommended The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenids. I am a huge Jeffrey Eugeidies Fan and patiently ( un-patiently) wait for a new book by this wonderful author, so when i discovered the marriage plot i was over the moon.
However,when rating this book i found it difficult to give it the three out of five stars i did (I gave it an extra start purely for the author)
It is hard to believe that the this is the same author who wrote about five suicidal girls and a greek hermaphrodite. Those stories were compelling, this story was not. Don't get me wrong it had those beautiful passage that only Eugenides can write, However, the novel is dull and just annoying. My recommendation is if you are going to read any of Eugenides work, choose the virgins suicides or Middlesex.
